The Future of Nissan Vehicles

When a major organization peels back the curtain and lets the public see what it is working on behind closed doors, it brings about a sense of mystery and excitement. This is especially true for automotive manufacturers, who regularly announce concept vehicles and advancements in technology that will debut when these vehicles are put into production. Below are some of the Nissan concept cars that have been released over the last few years, each one providing a glimpse into the future of the automobile industry.

The IMS Concept

Announced in 2019, the Nissan IMs is a fully autonomous electric sports sedan. This vehicle was announced to be one of the leading models in Nissan’s push toward an electrified horizon. Combining hands-free operation with invigorating performance in manual driving mode, the IMs would be enjoyable to drive regardless of who has control. Though it is not the first electric vehicle created by Nissan, it will be a powerful foundation for future generations of Nissan EVs.

The XMOTION Concept

The Nissan Xmotion’s design was meant to be the ultimate challenge for the Nissan engineering team, pushing the limits of craftsmanship to the highest standards. With a center console reaching from the front to the rear seats, the spacious interior draws inspiration from classic Japanese designs.

VMOTION 2.0 Concept

Vmotion 2.0 is a sedan that has inspired other Nissan vehicles that have been produced since its inception in 2017. This concept also has the honor of introducing ProPILOT autonomous driving, a system that is already available on several Nissan vehicles. This design is a great example of how a concept vehicle can alter Nissan’s future releases, simply by existing.

IDS Concept

The IDS was envisioned with the aspirational goals of achieving zero emission and reducing traffic fatalities to zero. Meant to be the safest vehicle possible while also providing an incredibly unique interior experience. With a control panel that can transform depending on the drive mode, the car can shift into the piloted driver assistance mode, where the steering wheel disappears into the dashboard.

IDX Concept

The IDx concepts involve two compact sedans that brought new design strategies to make the most efficient vehicles possible. The IDx Freeflow is a casual compact sedan that shows flashes of sophistication and power. The IDx Nismo is more reminiscent of a sports car, with an appearance that would be a natural sight on a racetrack.

Pushing the Limits of Nissan Design

While these vehicles won’t be offered to the public for sale, many of the cars in Nissan’s current lineup feature the design elements and technologies displayed here. While we are all excited about the next concept to be announced, the production models are already benefiting from these concepts.
